Repetier firmware on Felix 2

Post by Capella_Ben » Thu Mar 13, 2014 11:47 pm

Hi,

Is is possible to use the Repetier firmware for the single extruder (20140216 - FIRMWARE - Repetier 0.91 - FELIX_3_0_SINGLE extrusion.zip) from the downloads section on the Felix 2.0?

Has anyone done this? I haven't had a look at the config files to check, but I would imagine they should be pretty compatible.

yes I've been running it on mine no problem other than an issue that it appears to be more sensitive to some endstop noise issue that Marlin wasn't, It was fixed by rerouting my endstop cables separate from the motor and heating circuits.

Did you have to change the config files at all? I was actually planning on using the latest version from github and copying the settings from the Felix downloaded version.

I'm hoping it will fix, or at least help diagnose, the problem I have with the printer hanging mid print.

Only my calibration data for all axis and extruder as I'm using GT2 belts otherwise is standard one from download area

I now have repetier v0.91 rev6 (latest) installed.

I used the online config tool and uploaded the Felix configuration.h file. At the end of the online config tool you can then download your config along with the actual firmware; I did that.

I then compared the two configuratio.h files and found a few discrepancies.

Code: Select all

#define EXT0_WAIT_RETRACT_UNITS 5
#define EXT0_SELECT_COMMANDS "M117 Extruder 1"
and

Code: Select all

#define HEATED_BED_PID_PGAIN   18 //196 FELIXprinters
I used the values fro the Felix config for these.

Printing OK so far (but it's only 5 minutes in). :)

First print successful. Hopefully this fixes my lockup problems.

I like the Repetier firmware. Looks like there has been a lot more development than Marlin.

One thing I can't do is adjust the speed by simply dialling the knob; you have to go through the menus.

Watching the respective Githubs, there's actually quite a bit more active development on Marlin than there seems to be (for the last 3 months, anyway) on Repetier firmware. I like both and I think they're both perfectly usable, but there is definitely more activity on Marlin since there are many more people contributing to it.
