Felix Builder + gcode

Post by smuseus » Wed Sep 21, 2016 9:06 pm

So I spent my 45 EUR or so on the piece of software now please would somebody tell me how to import and print a g-code file with it?

In blunt honesty, Felix Builder is so reduced it feels more like the type of bloatware you'd get from a bankrupt printer brand. 45 EUR for some presets and a constant reminder that this is POWERED BY MATERIALSE.. 'innovators you can count on'.. everything going okay there at Felix Printers?

Hi Smuseus, sorry to see you feel this way about the software. Did you install the latest software version? http://www.felixprinters.com/downloads/ ... LIXbuilder With FELIXbuilder you cannot import a gcode created by a different program unfortunately and print it. The goal of the software was that it would be easy to use for the beginning user, but still powerfull enough for the more advanced user. Compared to other programs I think it is very user friendly, and in terms of slicing settings, you basically have more or at least comparable slicing options than in repetier-host and most slicers. You can tweak them anyway you want it.

Materialise did not want to print gcodes from a different program, because their idea was that the slicer was so fast that you do not need to carry gcodes everywhere, you just generate it on the spot. If you do want to print a gcode, it would be best to print that via your sd card and print it directly from there.

right now your software isn't even connecting to my printer...

... and you should probably update your "print parts" under your download section to other formats than g-code.

it doesn't take any commands, there's no feedback, no console, I'd don't know if it's the printer, the software, to port communication... just a fancy UI... I'm closing up to 5 hours of trying to calibrate and fix this printer, just an avalanche of bugs and tweeking... can't even get a test print off...

What printer do you have? Under the printer tab, you can select the correct baudrate, assuming the drivers for your printer are installed. Standard it chooses 115200, but for the 3.x it is 250000. When you change that it should connect.

Indeed the print-parts we should also include the STL files. I've put it on our todo-list.
