Hey All,

Is the fan cover over the extruder cooling fan necessary or just for cosmetics?

Thanks

While its not really needed I'd suggest you put one on, I didn't use the "Official" Felix design, rather found one I liked on thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:46613) that is designed to protected against an allen key and have been using that back on my V2 and then on my V3

I'm currently using Sateors E3D V6 head and carriage design and has no fan guard, guess what I did when I did some maintenance on the hot end the other week, yup, stuck my allen key in accidentally as I was undoing to release my hotnend this broke off a couple of blades so now it's much noise. So I'll look for another guard design I can install with the current configuration to give it some more protection.
