Fan output not working anymore; Thermoresistor broken

Post by Bachgassenbande » Sat Aug 24, 2013 2:46 pm

Just after 2 weeks of printing my printer failed yesterday the first time

Following failures:
* Thermoresistor broken
==> Print failed because of PLA stuck

So I replaced the Thermoresistor (good that there is one as spare included)
As I may have to do these more often as I thought I need to find a cheap fast way to get spare parts; anybody sugesstions?

Then after reassambling everything was good, was just recabling the whole lines as the fan to the cold end was not running anymore
* Line broken at fan (-)
==> Resoldered it but fan was still not running

==> Checked the lines and the port outputs
Without load the output was 6,xx V the oute Fan outputs do show 9,xx or 11,xx V
With load (Fan attached) 0,00V
Fan works on other Fan outputs so I replaced the wiring to the 2nd Fan output

????Is the output on my board broken???????

For me it looks like; and that's not building confidence to the main board!!!

Hello Thomas,

Sorry to hear the thermistor broke so soon. It seems you have a lot of bad luck with the electronics board. We didn’t experience this to date. Maybe there were some loose pieces of metal in the electronics housing? The thermistors half a year back were of not so good quality, but the ones we use now hardly break at all. The thermistor that you use had it all black wires or also some piece of white wire? The thermistor is a regular 100kOhm thermistor, so if you feel like sourcing it somewhere else that’s the value to look for.

Thx for the quick reply;
Living with my workaround till now.

Checked for metal parts (but where should they come from?) without sucess.
After reattaching and attaching, seems for me at least the electronic board does not get enough support from the housing ==> just by screwing the board bends pretty much ==> may this affacted the electronics.....

I'm having the same fan problem. I ended up measuring the fan voltage and shorting it blowing the circuit instantly. I have no idea what I broke though and my printer is out of commission until I figure that out. fun...

Hi,

I'm from Germany so please excuse if my english isn't as good

I ran into the same problem some days ago. After the cable to the (power)fan was broken and I resoldered it, the fan didn't work anymore. The cables were ok, so I opened the electronic housing and measured no current at the connector wheren the printer was on. After switching to the optional fan connector it worked again as normal.
After printing some time the cable of the fan broke again. After reconnecting the cable again to the fan, I noticed the same problem again: no current on connector.
So now I have two fan connectors that don't work anymore.
The printer was off eacht time I reconnected cables to the fan.

Can I do anything else from exchanging the electronic board?

Thanks
jFon.

My last fan port just fried in mid print(no load 6v, load 0.00v) has anyone fixed the boards?
What is good alternative board for felix 3.0 dual since the felix board is quite expensive?

One of the ports was DOA, second port i accidentally fried when connecting fan and now the last port died in mid print.

Not a huge proplem since my fans are always at 100% but it would nice to have the ports working.

Hi,

I've got the same problem... my extruder fan output is not working.
the prints failed because of PLA stuck
Without load the output is 12V.When i measuring the voltage with load it's below 5V.
At the moment i use a sepret 12v adapter to power it, but this is not something i want to do forever.
I send a email to Felix, the replay was quick but i'm still waiting on a solution.
