Magnetic E3Dv6 printhead for Felix 3D printer

Post by Frankenstein » Fri Oct 30, 2015 9:26 pm

I've designed a magnetic printhead for my #FrankensteinFelix. I can now easily change between a head with 0.8mm E3Dv6 nozzle or a head with 0.4mm nozzle by just disconnecting/connecting the M12 sensor/actuator cable. The printhead is a complete module with hotend, fans and proximity sensor.

You can get the STL files from my GitHub repo:

Nice, is that an autolevel sensor I see next to the head?

Yes, it's an inductive proximity switch. I am using it with the "Grid level calibration" strategy of SmoothieWare. It gives you really good results: http://smoothieware.org/zprobe
