Extruder Heater Error

Post by evanr » Wed Oct 23, 2019 1:20 am

Hi all,

I have a Felix Pro2 touch.

Extruder 1 heats up fine...

PROBLEM:
- first it stopped printing midway "Extruder Heater Error"
- 2nd time and thereafter it heats up and then before it prints "Extruder Heater Error"

"Please consult the user manual for troubleshooting" is all I get on the screen.
And, of course there is nothing there.

I HAVE TRIED:
- changed to a brand new extruder/connector/thermister
- changed to another extruder/connector/thermister
- changed the profile in Simplify3D
- changed the temp settings in Simplify3D

The problem seems isolated to the Pro2 PCB? or what else could it be?

Any help much appreciated.

I have also tried:
- printing 'benchy' test print from original USB stick, same problem (this removes the slicer software as potential issue)
- using Extruder2, same problem
- did an x/y & z calibration, same 'Extruder Heater Error' problem

I don't think I'm able to test anything else to isolate the issue.......... any ideas?

Hi Evanr,

Please mount the standard screen and print via the MicroSD slot on the back. Then you can easily see which heater causes the issue. In some cases it can also be the heated bed heater wires. Also inspect if the ribbon cable on the back of the extruder pcb is properly fixed in place.

WOW! Thanks so much for that.

I took the heated bed off and played around with some of the wires.

Then I noticed 1 of 6 pop-up pins on the pcb circuit for the heated bed wasn't popping up anymore.

So, I replaced the heated bed mini pcb with one I bought before and it now works great!

This has been an intermittent problem since the printer arrived, I guess it finally gave out.

Couldn't figure it out.....

In the whole processes, I also updated the hotends/connector/thermister & even replaced a clogged Extruder2..... It is now better than before.

thanks!
