Hi all,

Anyone know what type to get for the Z1W 60 (I think) from the fan connectors on the PCB.

Both have blown for my fans.

I've emailed Guillaume, no reply yet, but I could an order in today and get them tomorrow if I knew exactly what to get :-(

You mean ZTW, I guess. One option would be:

Thanks Dreide, it does indeed look like ZTW.

Had the same problem and replaced as well. Problem is if the fan shorts there is no current limiting protection and the NPN switching transistor (case marked ZTW) sinks all the current, goes into thermal run away, and then basically melts (gets blown, or if you go by the magic smoke theory of electronics, all the magic smoke leaks out ;-/).

Felix printer Control Board OPT Fan output is again working by replacing the switching NPN transistor (see part highlighted in red in photo below):
  • NXP PBSS4140T: 40 V, 1A NPN low VCEsat (BISS) transistor:
  • Farnell Ordercode 8736189
  • Minimum quantity: 5 each
Hint to translate case markings (for example this part):
Go to http://www.dl7avf.info/charts/smdcode/cz.html Scroll down till you find ‘ZTW’ in the Code/ Top Marking field - then along the row to the Typenbezeichnung/ Type Designator field to find the NXP part number PBSS4140T

Other notes:
The two solder bridge jumpers marked MAIN and OPT halve the output voltage when bridged (the clue is in the silkscreened note OPEN = FULL):
  • Open: Output voltage ~11.5 V
  • Bridged: Output voltage ~5.75 V

looking at the RAMPS schematic (probably where the Felix board is based on):
http://reprap.org/mediawiki/images/f/f6 ... ematic.png
Ramps is using STP55NF06L Power MosFets:

Maybe these are more suitable for the job.
Note: I have no inside knowledge of the Felix board schematic. So I don't know if it's a drop in replacement.
